Closure: Boats of any kind (rafts, kayaks, inflatable kayaks, canoes, tubes) are banned on Big Creek from the Smith Creek confluence down to the Middle Fork, about 31 miles, every year Apr 1–May 31 and Aug 1–Sep 30, to protect Chinook salmon and steelhead (Payette NF order 0412-618, in force through Apr 24, 2030). Outside those dates the creek is open with the free Payette NF permit.
