Closure: Once this run reaches Big Creek, boats of any kind are banned every year Apr 1–May 31 and Aug 1–Sep 30: the ban covers Big Creek from the Smith Creek confluence to the Middle Fork, about 31 miles, to protect Chinook salmon and steelhead (Payette NF order 0412-618, in force through Apr 24, 2030). The order does not name Monumental Creek itself.
